Dilute CFR in ratio between 1 : 6 to 1 : 20 with water.
Soak absorbent stone thoroughly wit water beforehand. Apply the solution and allow to react for a short time, then rinse well with water. As a general principle, check whether the stone is suited for treatment with CFR by doing a patch-test with a dilution of CFR 1 : 6 with water. If the stone is sensitive to acid , an effervescing takes place. In such case it must be further diluted up to 1 : 20 and only a short reaction time should be allowed. Changes of color can occur on some ceramic tiles, even using a weak solution, without any effervescing. This may only be visible when the ceramic has completely dried. In this case treatment with is not recommended.
